“Her cousin?” He let out a pfft sound. “I find that hard to believe. I know you are lying, you look nothing like her.” Another guard had joined them now; he was smaller than the first, but more bulky. He walked over slowly, eyeing Ruby.
She tried not to be intimidated by the presence of the two men before her. “Well, I am. What reason would I have to lie? This is Bloodmoon pack, right?” The man nodded. “Then I am at the right place. Can I at least take a step in before you begin throwing questions my way?” Ruby decided to try her luck; she knew there was no way they would allow that, though, not without consent from the Alpha.
“So, you are saying if I take you to her, she will confirm that you are her cousin?”
“Her cousin?” The smaller one looked to his mate. “What are you talking about?”
“She claims she is the cousin of the Alpha’s mate.” Then to Delphine, he asked, “Right?”
“Eh… It’s complicated.” Delphine didn’t know that Ruby was her cousin. Ruby knew that Delphine didn’t even know she had family out there, and that’s why if she was taken to Delphine, it wouldn’t help. “But I am actually her cousin.”
He shook his head, letting out a ‘tsk’. “You didn’t answer my question correctly, you look really nervous, and I don’t trust you. Kindly turn around and leave this place before further actions are taken.”
“I can’t leave; I have to see Delphine. She needs me, I need to talk to her.”
