The next day, Delphine’s celebration was short-lived as Daciana dragged her to the training ground again.
“Okay, now aim for the watermelon this time and not the stone,” Daciana told Delphine who was hopping around, holding her right foot, her face squeezed in pain. Daciana rolled her eyes. “Sorry, do you need an ice pack for that?”
“No, it’s fine. I mean, it’s just a stone anyways, not something hard like bread,” Delphine said sarcastically, while Lila, who was standing close by, did her best to hold back a laugh. “Why are we even still on the left foot and right foot kick, today is my birthday. I’m now eighteen, an adult, and I believe I deserve something better than this.”
Daciana placed her arms on her waist, watching Delphine. “You know I was going to ask, were you that lazy as a child?”
Delphine frowned. “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean, it’s like you have never trained before. I’m afraid even a first-month trainee under Luca could easily take you down…blindfolded.”
“Now you are just exaggerating. I might not be good at comebacks like this, but I do know how to put good use of my nails and fists. Also, you’re wrong, I have been on the training field before, but then you guys hit my head and I have forgotten everything.”
Daciana rolled her eyes at the obvious lie. “Right,” she said slowly. “Ok, go for the watermelon then, destroy it in one kick.”
