Madison froze momentarily before forcing a sweet smile to mask her anxiety. “Sir, I think we should take you to the hospital. Michelle is as pretty as your late wife, but I don’t think they are the same.”
She intentionally used the term ‘late wife’ to remind him that Zora was deceased. “You might just be missing Zora so much that you see her in Michelle.”
Ezrah was dissatisfied but did not refute the accusation, and neither did he accept it, choosing silence instead. “Lake, come and drink with me.”
Lake glanced in Michelle’s direction, but his focus was on finding Coco. Regrettably, she had followed Michelle. Disappointment streaked his tone. “Alright, I will come and drink with you, but what about your woman?” He glanced at Piper.
Ezrah was so distant from his fiancée without realizing it, making it questionable. The tremor was the way Piper was so well behaved. She did not want anything to cause her to lose her engagement ring.
Hence, she could only stomach everything Ezrah did with a plastered fake smile on her face.
Before Ezrah could decide, Piper spoke up when Madison extended her hand to hers, attempting to snatch the pass from her with a smirk. “You guys should go. I want to attend the after-party. Madison is here anyway.”
Madison smiled with satisfaction, glad to have secured her stay without much effort. Before she could celebrate her success, a familiar voice echoed near her. “Hey, Madison, look…”
