Michelle panicked slightly but remained calm. She did not mind that her identity would be revealed, but it was not supposed to happen on the red carpet, and not when she had been unable to kidnap Piper as she wanted.
As much as she wanted to admit it and flaunt it in his face, she remained focused on her objective for tonight. She was about to free herself when Rush quickly came through for her.
His gaze was apologetic, as he was not supposed to allow anyone near Michelle without her approval. Who knew that being on her left side, Ezrah, would snatch her from the right?
Rush had no idea who he was and with what audacity he got close to her, but that bravery was what felt like a threat to him.
“Get your hands off her,” Rush said seriously, about to peel Ezrah’s hand, but Ezrah was quick to shove him away. He was getting violent for reasons Michelle could not pinpoint. Never in her life had she seen him like this but remained indifferent.
“Back off, you don’t know her history,” Ezrah said coldly to Rush, refusing to loosen his grip on Michelle. What kind of history was he talking about? Rush felt uneasy, determined to do some background check on Ezrah after the party.
Michelle’s fierce look met that of Rush. It was his duty to get Ezrah away from her and if he failed at it, then he was not deserving of the position of her personal bodyguard.
Then again, Rush was perfect with his job, so the only reason he must have gone soft must probably be because they were in public, in a bid to not embarrass her by aggravating the impact of the scene Ezrah was causing. It takes two to tango, and Rush did not want to tango with Ezrah for the sake of Michelle’s fame.
