Kayden's POV
"What do we do? Poor Evelyn has no one from her family here, and her mate is even out of the question. He was so evil to her, and even if we could actually contact him, what's the guarantee that he'll be willing to help?" Ana blurted tiredly.
"You're wrong," I said, and everyone's eyes were on me once more. "Evelyn doesn't need that bastard anywhere near her. Haven't you seen how afraid she is of him? And she's not alone—she never has been, and she never will be. She has all of us, and she has me. I've always felt that we have a special bond right from the first day I met her. I don't know why we turned out to have different mates, but I'm certainly sure that we're made for each other. So I'm going to give my blood to Evelyn," I said, the determination crystal clear in my voice.
"But you already have a mate, Kayden, and your mating ceremony was supposed to take place today," Richard said, and I couldn't stop myself from glaring at him.
"Do you really think I want anything to do with Margallo after what her father did? I'm really not in the mood for another argument. Evelyn needs me now more than ever, and I won't let her down. I can't just sit on my hands and do nothing like the rest of you," I said and ventured towards the door, but Richard grabbed a hold of my arm, stopping me.
"What if your blood has a negative effect on her system and harms her instead of helping her?" Richard questioned, bringing another possibility to light. At the mention of those words, my stomach twisted in fear, but I held onto my ground. I won't let doubt take over me one more time. It was my doubting her that had led us to this situation in the first place. If only I had believed her and spoken up, none of this would have happened.
"That's a risk I'm willing to take because I'm confident that everything will be alright. I'm giving my blood no matter what anyone else has to say. I won't let any of you stop me," I said and was surprised to get some support.
"On the contrary, I won't try to stop you, but instead, I'll support you. I've seen how close the two of you are, and I'm aware of how much you really love her. I also think you should give her your blood. It's worth the risk," Elsie said, and I smiled at her.
