Special Chapter: Kayden's POV
Richard and I arrived at the entrance of the room, where the others were still waiting in apparent trepidation.
Richard went straight to Elsie and took her in a warm hug, much of which she relaxed into. I felt sorry for her, she's been having health issues lately, and when it seems like she's finally recovered, this just had to happen, putting a new type of strain on her.
"Is it over? Has Evelyn given birth?" I questioned, already knowing the answer but still daring to ask.
"No. The doctor says she hasn't even gone into labor just yet, and it's already been a few hours, but she's been in pain all this while, probably due to the poison. Though we can't hear her screams of pain, we all know just how much pain she must be in right now. I just wish I could take some of it away; she really doesn't deserve this," Elsie said and broke into a fresh round of tears.
I had never seen her so sad and petrified before. Richard tried his best to comfort her. "It's alright, Elsie, everything is going to be fine. I'll make sure of it," he promised while Elsie sniffed. Ana just sat quietly in a somewhat shell-shocked state. I could only imagine what she was going through right now. Despite the severity of the situation, the fact that Evelyn's foster family cares for her so much more than her biological family ever could, really warms my heart. It's the only thing that stops me from going against Richard's orders and attacking Alpha Turner.
A sudden wave of pain hit my head like a storm in the form of a blinding headache. My hand instantly came to my temple and massaged it softly. It was so sudden that I instantly realized that it couldn't be normal.
I had felt it as clear as day when I had first thought Evelyn went into labor, the pain she felt had bred so much anger in me that it took a lot to master restraint.
