The car pulled up in front of a beautiful, upscale restaurant. As soon as I stepped out, my eyes widened in awe. The exterior was sleek and modern, with soft, warm lights glowing through large glass windows. A small fountain bubbled in the front, and the smell of freshly baked bread wafted through the air. It looked like something out of a fairytale.
Magnus came around the car and stood next to me, watching my reaction with a satisfied smile. “Do you like it?” he asked, his voice soft.
I turned to him, my lips curving into a wide smile. “It’s beautiful, Magnus.” For a moment, I forgot that I was supposed to be mad at him. The thought of my first day at school and all the drama from earlier in the day seemed to melt away.
We walked towards the entrance, his hand resting protectively on the small of my back. As we made our way inside, I felt eyes on us. The restaurant was filled with couples and groups of people, and it didn’t take long for whispers to spread about the Lycan King and his mate. I tried to ignore it, focusing on the fact that I was here with Magnus.
We were seated at a cozy corner table, and soon after, a waiter came by to take our order. Magnus ordered for both of us, choosing dishes I couldn’t even pronounce but that sounded delicious. After the waiter left, Magnus leaned back in his chair, watching me with an amused glint in his eyes.
“So,” he began, “why didn’t you call me earlier?”
I froze for a moment, remembering how upset I had been at school. I crossed my arms and narrowed my eyes at him. “I don’t have a phone, Magnus. You didn’t give me one.”
His eyebrows shot up in surprise. “What do you mean you don’t have a phone? I gave you one.”
