*KYLIE'S POV*
Two days later, I’m back at Bennington Corporation for my first day of work. My heels click against the marble floor, echoing around the sleek lobby as I approach the reception desk.
The woman behind it is tapping away on her phone, barely glancing up until I clear my throat. When she finally does look up, my stomach drops like a lead weight.
“Eliza?!” Her name tumbles out of my mouth before I can stop it.
What the hell is she doing here? And why does she look so…different? Her once-blonde hair is now dyed jet black, and her makeup is severe, giving her a sharp, intimidating look.
A wicked grin spreads across her face. “I’d ask if you were surprised to see me,” she says, her voice dripping with smugness, “but that dumb look on your face says it all.”
I bite my tongue, trying to compose myself. “Why are you here?” I manage, my voice tight.
Eliza shrugs, completely at ease. “Worthington Enterprises is a sinking ship,” she says with a flick of her wrist. “So I jumped last week.”
