NEXT MORNING…
I sighed heavily as I stared at the pile of paperwork on my desk. I had hoped to personally drop Aria off at school, but the responsibilities of being king were relentless. There was no way I could leave the palace today with everything that needed my attention. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples, trying to think of a way to balance my duties and my need to be with Aria. But for now, I had to settle with sending Fergus.
I picked up my phone, dialing Aria’s number. The line only rang once before she picked up, and the moment I heard her voice, I knew she was pouting again.
“Good morning, little woman,” I said, trying to soften her mood. “Did Fergus arrive yet?”
“Yes, Magnus. He’s already dropped Owen off, and now we’re on our way to school,” she replied, her tone a little sulky.
I chuckled softly, imagining her with that adorable pout on her face. “I’m sorry I couldn’t come myself, but there’s a lot of work I need to handle today. I’ll make it up to you.”
“You better,” she muttered, and I could hear the playful annoyance in her voice. “By the way, why does Fergus keep calling me Miss Aria and bowing every time he sees me? It feels so weird.”
“He’s just being respectful,” I explained with a smile. “You’re the mate of the Lycan King, after all. It’s something you’ll have to get used to. There will be a lot more of that in the future.”
