"Welcome to Paris, Miss Kendrick," Ambrose smiles at me in the rear-view mirror as I climb into the car and slide over to let Rhodes climb in beside me. Ah, there he is.
"Thank you, Ambrose, how are you?" I smile as I reply. Rhodes shuts the door beside him and places his hand on my knee.
"Very good, thank you, Miss Kendrick," he politely replies as he turns the car on and pulls out of the parking spot and into the narrow road.
"Miss me?" Rhodes quietly asks me as he leans his head down to mine. He's moved himself into the middle seat so he can be right next to me, a decision I'm quite pleased with. I know it's ridiculous that I've missed him like this, but it's the truth. I nod my head, peering up at him, watching as the soft smirk appears across his face.
"Good girl, I missed you too," he replies in a soft sultry tone that pulls on something within my belly. My cheeks heat at his words, and I'm about to spend the whole car ride talking and getting lost within him when I remember where I am. I have to look out the window, capture it all in my brain so that I can remember it forever.
Rhodes sits patiently beside me, allowing me to take it all in while he gently skims his thumb over my thigh in a circular motion. I'm unable to contain my excitement, pointing out things to Rhodes that may seem so bizarre as we drive past them. Cafés with wicker seats outside, people weaving through traffic on their bikes with baskets in front, street performers and colorful art installations all grab my attention, probably annoying the crap out of Rhodes. But if he is annoyed, he doesn't let on, peering out the window and smiling softly.
"I have a meeting this afternoon that I can't get out of. But it's a short one," Rhodes adds on quickly as the car turns off of the main road and down a narrow street. I shrug my shoulders, it's about what I had expected.
"But you should go out and explore a little and I can catch up with you when I'm done. I'll send some security with you," his fingers reach up to tuck some of my hair behind my ear as he speaks. I don't want to be annoying and needy, but I came here to spend time with him, not his security team. Stop it, Amelia; he's a very busy man and there are some things that have to come first for him, accept that.
