His name pops up onto the screen quickly, and I have an immediate dilemma about answering it; I can't leave the room and abandon Poppy as her mouth is currently being filled with bleach or something, but I don't want both her and the dentist to hear our conversation. I opt to answer it but talk quietly.
"Hey," I say quietly into the phone after I answer it.
"Hello, why are we whispering?" Rhodes drops his tone to a whisper in response to mine, which makes me giggle. He's playful, he's in a good mood.
"I'm at the dentist with Poppy, how are you?" I ask him, sneaking a peek over to see that there is now a small TV above Poppy's head playing an episode of Friends, good choice, Poppy.
"I'm good, just wanted to remind you that we have that event on tonight if you're still up for it?" he asks. I hadn't forgotten; in fact, I had put it in my calendar three weeks ago and got a reminder for it this morning. Something about an art show.
"Yeah, of course, what sort of attire will this event require?" I ask him, I hear a chuckle at the other end.
"Probably a dress, not a ball gown though, you'd steal the attention away from the art."
"Sounds good, I'll stop off at my apartment and get something to wear after this, then I'll be back at yours," I inform him, mentally going through my wardrobe piece by piece trying to find something that will work.
