I woke up in Devyn’s room, expecting to find him asleep beside me, but he wasn’t there. Rising from the bed, I sat up, stretched, and noticed I was the only one in the room.
As my hand moved to my neck, surprise coursed through me when I felt the necklace lying on my neck—I was certain I had tossed it in the lake. The only explanation was that Devyn had gone back to get it.
I found that thoughtful and creepy at the same time.
Stepping off the bed, I walked up to the window and peered outside. Squinting against the morning sun as its rays hit my eyes, I observed the airy day, listening to birds chirping and the sounds of children playing nearby.
Looking around, I noticed Devyn’s car wasn’t in the area, which was surprising considering how early it was.
Walking away from the window, I looked around his room as an idea popped into my mind. Since he wasn’t here, and I wasn't sure I could get another chance like this, I decided to snoop around and see if I could find anything interesting.
Opening his closet, I scanned his collection of clothes. It was nothing more than shirts, pants, shorts, and shoes – quite ordinary, and I couldn't help but find men's clothing a bit dull. His earthy scent mixed with cologne filled the air as I inhaled deeply into my lungs. I always found his scent intoxicating.
