Macy appeared in the doorway, escorted by Dominic. I sprinted toward her, practically launching myself at her.
“Oomph!” she grunted and then laughed, her arms wrapping around me.
“I missed you,” I said, still holding on to her.
“I missed you too.”
It was so good to see another face other than Damian’s, Alex’s, and Dominic’s. I was starting to really love the guys, but I was tired of seeing just them day in and day out. Besides, Dominic, who was currently on bodyguard duty, was more of a brooding character rather than a jolly conversationalist.
“It’s so good to see you,” I said, finally letting go of her. “Brief phone conversations weren’t doing it for me anymore.”
“I know, right.” She grinned and stepped back. “Let me take a good look at you. You look good. Healthy.” She swept the living room of Cole’s apartment. “Cole had enough sense to keep you stashed in one of his nice residences. Kudos to him. I told him I’d kick his ass if he weren’t taking proper care of you.”
My eyebrows shot up. It was hard to imagine anyone speaking to Cole like that. He had such a formidable air. “You and Cole must be closer than I thought,” I said—more to myself than to Macy.
