Larry
The phone call from Caroline should have upset me, but when she first called, I didn't believe her. I don't even know why I picked up when I noticed that she was the one calling. But when she told me about Tiffany kidnapping my son and all of that, I wasn't bothered. Still, I had tried to call Tiffany and she hadn't taken any of my calls, which had gotten me sick with worry.
Until my parents called too. My father's agitated voice made me blind with worry and rage. Surely, Tiffany wouldn't be capable of doing that to me and my son. But she didn't pick up any of my calls or call me back, which made me certain there might be some truth in it.
Then, Carlos called too.
"Surely she couldn't do that to me, right?" I ask him as soon as I take the call. I have already packed up, leaving on the first flight tomorrow morning and just need more clarification because it just seems like I'm being played.
Tiffany is the woman I have been with for so long. She is also my wife, and she loves Larry, my son. If anything, she'll never let any harm come to him. That's why I had tried calling her. For her version. For her to tell me Larry is with her, like usual, and everyone is just trying to make a joke and get me to come back.
Carlos draws his breath in and sighs. I imagine him shaking his head and tapping his fingers against his table. "I went to check things out as you said, and it isn't looking good. Your son…is gone."
"What?!" I roar, so angry and hurt to realize that I'm streaming now. "What do you mean he's gone?"
