I hadn't planned on meeting her here but at home, in a couple of hours. But the moment I saw her, standing there looking so utterly gorgeous, I knew I wanted to do so much all at once. Now that she's agreed to follow me out to get coffee, I pray silently. I want to be able to get over her. To find release. Because if I can't get her out of my system, it might be difficult for me to get married to her and not grow too attached.
In my car, Tiffany adjusts her weight in the passenger seat but doesn't speak to me.
"Are you okay?" I try to speak into the void because the silence is turning awkward.
"Yes, why?"
"Just asking," I shrug.
After a while though, Tiffany chooses to speak, her voice floating around the car with ease. "Where did you go to anyway?"
"West Virginia," I say. "I had a conference set up and needed to be there to check on a few things."
