The doctor’s words hit me like a physical blow. “Didn’t make it?” The disbelief surged through me, quickly replaced by rage that bubbled up, boiling over. No, it couldn’t end like this, not after everything.
I barely registered Aria breaking down beside me, her body convulsing with silent sobs as the reality of the doctor’s words settled over us. Her pain was visible, radiating through the room, and it twisted something deep inside me. Every fiber of my being ached to make it right.
Without hesitation, I let go of Aria and stormed toward the doctor, grabbing him by the collar and lifting him off the ground. My grip was unyielding, and I could feel the heat pulsing from my clenched fist as my rage built, making my eyes blaze red.
"Bring him back," I growled, my voice low and deadly, each word dripping with venom. "Or I swear to you, I will kill you and every soul in this hospital. He isn’t gone, do you understand?"
The doctor paled, stammering as he tried to process my words. His eyes darted between mine, the fear plain on his face as he grappled with the weight of my threat. I watched as his expression crumbled, all confidence replaced by dread.
“S-sire…” he managed, his voice trembling, “the silver blade…it went deep into his body. No one has ever survived that kind of wound. It would take a miracle.”
I tightened my grip, my voice turning sharper. “Then create a miracle. History will be written today. Regan is not dying, not on my watch.”
He nodded frantically, terrified. “Yes…yes, your Highness, I-I’ll do everything I can.” He scrambled away from my grip, and without looking back, he ran back into the ward, pushing open the doors as he disappeared inside.
