The tension in the air was palpable as Magnus led Valerie into an empty room. I stayed behind, seated with Regan, Bella, and Chloe. My mind raced, wondering what kind of punishment Magnus had in store for her. Valerie had crossed a line—attempting to harm me by using my allergy against me was not only cruel, but it was also dangerous. Magnus wasn't the type to take such things lightly, and I knew Valerie would regret it.
Regan noticed my nervousness and tried to lighten the mood. “Relax, Aria. King Magnus will take care of it. Valerie deserves whatever’s coming to her.”
Bella, who had been quiet, nodded in agreement. “Yeah, you don’t have to worry about a thing. King Magnus is making sure she pays for what she did.”
Despite their reassurances, I couldn’t shake the lingering unease. I was still in shock that someone could go so far just because they were jealous. Valerie had always been a brat like they said, but this was another level of cruelty. Magnus had left the room with Fergus, leaving me in the care of my friends, but I couldn’t relax until I knew how it all turned out.
The door opened a few moments later, and Magnus stepped back inside. His face was calm, but there was a certain intensity in his eyes that told me Valerie’s punishment had been handled.
“She won’t bother you again,” he said firmly, meeting my gaze. There was no need for him to elaborate—I trusted him completely.
The nurse came in shortly after to check on me one last time. After a brief examination, she nodded approvingly. “You’re fine now, Aria. Just make sure to avoid any more allergic reactions like this. Your body needs time to recover.”
I nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and exhaustion. My body still felt weak, but my heart was lighter knowing that the situation with Valerie had been dealt with.
