I waited for Magnus until nightfall, but he didn’t show up. Regan had left not too long ago, leaving me alone with my thoughts. Maybe Magnus was busy with his duties as king. I understood that being a Lycan King came with responsibilities, but I couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
It was my first day of school tomorrow, and I needed to prepare. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling inside me. At least Regan would be there with me; it was comforting to know we were both in the final year class together.
I glanced at Owen, who was sleeping soundly on my lap. He had fallen asleep while we were watching TV, his head lolling to the side. Gently, I nudged him awake. “Hey, Owen, time to go inside and sleep in your own bed,” I whispered, brushing his hair back.
He blinked groggily and stretched before standing up. “Okay, Aria,” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. I stood up and led him into the house, making sure he was comfortable in his bed before I started locking the doors and windows.
Once I was sure everything was secure, I headed to my room. The moment I stepped inside, I felt a wave of determination wash over me. I needed to look good for my first day, and I wanted to make a good impression, especially since I would be attending the same school as Alpha Dylan, his Luna, and Beta Colin, who had previously rejected me. I gently fell on my bed to get a good night's sleep for tomorrow.
NEXT MORNING...
I woke up quite early because I needed to make breakfast for my family leaving the house. When I was through, I helped Owen get ready for school and as soon as he left I went back to my room to get prepared for my own school. I still can't believe that I, Aria Winters, am going to the same school with the elites. Of course, I'm now one of the elites but still can't shake off the thought that something happened with Magnus. He was supposed to be here on my first like he promised but I still can't see him.
I opened my closet, scanning through my clothes. I decided on a stylish yet comfortable outfit—a fitted black blouse paired with a pleated plaid skirt that accentuated my figure. I slipped into my favorite ankle boots, then stood in front of the mirror, brushing my hair until it shone. I applied a light touch of makeup, just enough to highlight my features without looking overdone. I found out that it's not a must that we wear uniforms. Uniforms are for special occasions like Regan said.
