I tossed and turned in my bed all night. Matteo had finally fallen asleep. His nanny, on the other hand, had not returned. I got up and made my way to the hall.
The clock there read 2:30 a.m. Where on earth was she? I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated. She's really testing my patience.
I sat on the sofa in the hall, waiting for any sign of her arrival. I needed to have a word with her. This attitude was totally unprofessional.
I opened my mail on my phone to scroll through them as a pastime. I trashed several unnecessary emails and starred the important ones while I forwarded the urgent ones and those with potential to my assistant, Dave, to set up a meeting.
When I was done, I read a book I bought on Amazon. I got bored and wondered if I should just go to Amara's room. I decided against it considering the turn of events today. She needed to rest, plus I'm sure she wouldn't even want to see me now.
Reading in dim lighting was really bad for my eyes as I did not have my reading glasses on. I gave up on the nanny returning as it was almost 4 a.m. now. I stood up in the dark to make my way back to my room but stopped as I heard a voice.
“Thank you, Flynn, I had a really nice time.” She sounded so happy and almost like she was blushing.
“No, thank you for agreeing to go out with me.” I hated the voice of this guy. I envisioned him rubbing the back of his neck in nervousness.
