“Calm down, Mother,” I said as I walked out of Victoria's room with my phone to my ear and into my room.
“Calm down, you say? What are you turning into, Alessandro?” My mother scolded me over the phone.
“I have everything under control, Mother. Trust me.” I tried to soothe her worries as I discarded my black shirt and sat on my bed.
“No, you clearly don't! You're expecting another child with a random girl, and I have to find out through the news? I'm offended, Alessandro! I'm your mother! When will you stop getting every female you encounter pregnant?!” She scolded me like a child.
“Forgive me, Mother, I've been caught up with a lot of things lately. These days I've had a lot to deal with,” I said, feeling a migraine creeping in while I lay down on my bed in exhaustion.
The past events have worn me out. I haven't slept well, and I can't remember when I last ate.
“Clearly she's giving you a lot to deal with! Who is this woman, Alessandro?! Who are her parents?!” my mother asked out in anger. She must have thought Victoria was an heiress or a popular figure.
I myself didn't know Victoria's parents. I laughed out at the irony. I was getting married to her but didn't know her family.
