JUST A CHARADE
My tone and how boisterous my voice grew only seemed to heighten the fury in Marcella's eyes.
Her eyes darted nervously from me to Enid by the double doors right before the butler and Alpha Bruce and his wife Nevaeh.
She seemed relaxed now to find Enid's attention back on the company before him.
"Look," I drew out a slow and steady breath, "These few days have been crazy and hectic for me, that's why I would so much appreciate it if you could just let me be for now. We can catch up and chat another time." My tone became as soft as marshmallows as a sweet smile curled on my lips.
But Marcella didn't quit; she wanted the truth. And what was she going to do with the truth?
Considering she was friends with Enid, if Enid had let Chase in on the truth, then he should have done the same had she not been a blabbermouth. Such people were never trusted with delicate information.
With her attitude and her 'divorce Enid' thing, I couldn't help but think this woman was eventually going to go any miles to seek ways to milk the truth from me and rip off from Enid's side.
