I give him a blank stare. He can’t be serious. I haven’t played a game like this since college. I’m sure he has better things to do.
But his blue eyes look serious, so I blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. “Are you nervous? You know, about this whole marriage thing?”
“No.”
“Do you ever get nervous?”
“No.”
I stare at him, genuinely intrigued. “How is that possible?”
He leans forward, eyes locked on mine. “Because I trust myself. And when you know you’re doing the right thing, there’s no reason to be nervous.”
His confidence is undeniable. And very attractive. I want to ask more about what he means, but before I can, he smiles.
