After some minutes, I got to Mr. Adrian’s office, and I knocked on the door for the umpteenth time that day. I heard his deep voice tell me to come in, and I walked inside. I strolled to his desk and dropped the cup of latte in front of him. He stopped what he was doing and lifted his eyebrow in a questioning manner before his eyes drifted to the cup of steaming hot coffee.
He scrunched his nose in disgust before asking, “What the hell is this?”
“Your coffee as you requested, sir,” I replied with a big smile on my face.
“I hate lattes, don’t you know that? It was clearly stated in the notebook given to you that I hate any coffee with milk, latte included. In fact, it was written in that notebook that I only drink black coffee with no milk and sugar.” He rambled, and the smile on my face faltered. “Did you even go through the notebook at all?”
“Sir, I will not lie to you… I didn’t go through the notebook. Because of the adrenaline rush I got from getting the job, I completely forgot about it.” I spoke up, deciding to come clean. I might get a point for honesty… or not.
“Well, I appreciate the fact that you did not lie about going through it, but you should have. You only had one job, and that was to check out the content of the book and know everything you needed to know about me and my schedule. Make sure you do that, alright?”
“I will, sir,” I said and bobbed my head in response.
